Healing in community

Somatic Healing Groups

Why Groups?

Somatic healing groups are a powerful way to access healing inside a community of peers. There is something incredibly special, life giving and affirming about doing our healing work with others.

In all the groups  that we hold, our goal is to produce and increase the capacity for the five Cs. The five Cs are core competencies that trauma and oppression tend to disconnect us from. When we are able to embody the five Cs we have greater access to our choice, agency, and aliveness and can take more meaningful action toward what we care about.

The Five Cs:
  • Commitment
    • Our ability to know what we care about, share it with others and to move from that place under pressure
  • Connection
    • Our ability to form trusting, authentic relationships that compel others. Our availability for giving and receiving feedback that takes into account the impacts of trauma and oppression
  • Coordination
    • Our ability to work with others and to be responsive to the conditions around us
  • Collective Action
    • Our ability to take action toward shared values
  • Conflict as Generative
    • The ability to address interpersonal and group breakdown in a way that generates more dignity and trust

"The moment we choose to love we begin to move against domination, against oppression. The moment we choose to love, we begin to move towards freedom, to act in ways that liberate ourselves and others. That action is the testimony of love as the practice of freedom."
